RECYCLING PROGRAMS

Launched in 2004, the TRASHed (Trash Education) Recycling program is a Global Inheritance original initiative that has sparked a recycling revolution at festivals around the world. What began as a nonprofit’s passion project to help keep festivals clean has evolved into a staple program that has graced many of the biggest events in sports and music.

Global Inheritance is proud of the countless individuals, artists, partners, volunteers, event producers and motivated recyclers who have helped evolve these programs into what they are today. From the Art of Recycling to the Recycling Store, creating positive experiences that last beyond the events is top priority for the organization.

Art of Recycling

TRASHed Art of Recycling is a highly visual and artist-driven initiative which has inspired millions around the world. Global Inheritance invites artists with varying backgrounds to create imaginative and one of a kind art pieces out of everyday bins. Breaking ground at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in 2004, these redesigned bins have found their way to galleries, music festivals, sporting events, and public gatherings across North America, South America, as well as Europe.

Since the program launched, over 1,000 artists have contributed to its success and over 2,500 large and miniature recycling bins created. A large portion of the Art Of Recycling bins are donated to schools after events to ensure their lasting impact and continued inspiration in waste reduction.

Recycling Store

The TRASHed Recycling Store encourages people to recycle bottles, cans, and cups that accumulate onsite at large events and festivals in exchange for points. Using these points as a form of currency, event attendees can purchase items or experiences – many of which are only available to those who participate. By providing an entertaining and interactive vehicle for people to actively recycle, the program develops a deeper awareness about recycling, keeps venues clean, and allows individuals to receive rewards for their efforts. Our mission is to provide a positive and meaningful experience that will inspire people to learn good habits that they can apply in their everyday life.
