Global Inheritance has teamed up with fellow nonprofit organization, Blackout Sabbath (Founded by Rufus Wainwright), and our friends at Focus Features to host a charity auction on eBay.

Be the coolest person on the block, in the office or online when you invite up to 50 of your friends to view an early screening of Gus Vant Sant’s film – MILK starring Sean Penn as Harvey Milk.
The private screening will take place at your local movie theater.

This charity auction closes on November 13 at 7:00pm (PST) so don’t slack.

100% of the funds raised will be split between the organizations.

Milk will begin playing select U.S. cities on November 26

Clean Air Clear Stars Concert Benefits Global Inheritance

Global Inheritance partnered once again with Indie 103 and Vacancy Records for the 2nd annual Clean Air Clear Stars festival in Old Pioneertown, California. Clean Air Clear Stars is a global cooling benefit event designed to raise awareness about the effects of global warming on desert regions in the American southwest.

Over 30 bands (like Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Black Angels, and Dead Meadow) and hundreds of fans gathered to listen to some cool music for a hot cause. The music started Friday, October 10th and continued into the wee hours on Sunday night. All proceeds collected helped Global Inheritance live to talk about the current economic crisis.

Big thanks to Mary, Tommy, and Plucky for all their help and hard work.

Pirates Get TRASHed On Treasure Island

The TRASHed Recycling Store made a return voyage to Treasure Island Music Festival this year fueled by an insatiable appetite for the hard hitting music of Justice, TV On the Radio, The Raconteurs, Vampire Weekend, Hot Chip, and the opportunity to dole out treasures for recyclables.

Participants turned in water bottles, plastic cups and old cell phones in exchange for various prizes including tickets to future Noise Pop events, TIMF swag, Loomstate organic clothing, VitaminEnergy concert survival kits, Incase gear, and Logitech speakers just to name a few.

Thank you to Noise Pop and Another Planet for hosting Global Inheritance again and providing some killer goods, and thank you to all of the incredible volunteers that helped out this year.

The Bigger Picture Presents MILK

In 1977, Harvey Milk was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, becoming the first openly gay man to be voted into major public office in America. His victory was not just a victory for gay rights; he forged coalitions across the political spectrum. From senior citizens to union workers, Harvey Milk changed the very nature of what it means to be a fighter for human rights and became, before his untimely death in 1978, a hero for all Americans. Academy Award winner Sean Penn stars as Harvey Milk under the direction of Academy Award nominee Gus Van Sant in Milk.

Global Inheritance is partnering with Focus Features to help promote this outstanding film. Please check back for free early screening times across the United States.

TRASHed & Red Bull Honors Soapbox Race Winners

Global Inheritance & Red Bull teamed up to bring TRASHed:: Art of Recycling to the Red Bull Soapbox Racing crowd. Nine artists parlayed their creative talents to design tribute bins honoring past Red Bull Soapbox Race Winners (The A Team, Rollin Trollin, Deuces Wild and Many More).

These redesigned recycling bins will be featured at the 2008 Red Bull Soapbox Races in Cincinnati Oct. 4th, San Francisco Oct. 18th, and Denver Oct. 25th where amateur drivers build home made cars sans motors and compete in a downhill race against each other and the clock. If you're in the area, make sure to come check out the festivities and recycle at the TRASHed Exhibit!

Harvey Goldsmith Getting TRASHed With Us!!!

Live Aid co-founder and concert producer superstar, Harvey Goldsmith, paid us a visit to shoot a film in collaboration with Nokia and Virgin Atlantic.

Four inspiring individuals were invited to make a film, using a Nokia N93i, on something that has motivated them to try to make a difference to mankind. These individuals were Harvey Goldsmith, Secretary General of the WWF Jim Leap, renowned photographer Nick Waplington and Sir Richard Branson.

Harvey visited our offices with his Nokia phone and filmed us in action one weekend. We were lucky enough that a few our artists were in town to support. Although the film probably won't be winning an Oscar this year, it felt really good to get recognition from our friends across the Atlantic. Harvey entertained us all with his stories and we pulled together a nice exhibit at the world famous
Amoeba Record Shop in Los Angeles.

Border Crossing :: Virgin Festival Calgary & Toronto Summer 2008

Global Inheritance ventured up north to visit our friends, the Canadians, and run several great programs.
Last year’s Global Warming Chess episode was memorable. This year's menu included the return of the TRASHed Recycling Store, a solar powered computer lounge and camera/ipod charging station, a how-to-make biodiesel demonstrations, bike powered cell phone charging stations + more. So when people weren’t raging
to STP, Oasis, Foo Fighters, Tradically Hip or the other 5 million bands performing, we offered an escape into a different world with a renewable and recyclable theme.

TD Go Zone hosted the coolest solar powered computer lounge ever with an ipod/camera charging station and live vegetable oil to biodiesel conversions and how-to demos. Everyone at Armstrong (Lisa & Jenny) and TD were amazing. The biodiesel community in Canada is a fraction of what we see here everyday in
Southern California, so the connection with the Canadian festival goers was really cool.

Motorola sponsored Global Inheritance’s bike-powered cell phone charging station, allowing festival goers to stay in charge and in touch with family and friends. (Thank you to Mellisa, Stephanie, Brad and bike models!)

Lastly, Virgin Mobile supported the TRASHed Recycling Store in order to keep the festival grounds clean and the footprint to a minimum. Thank you to Virgin Mobile (Nikisha, Brandi, Mike and Segal) and everyone involved with the festival. Big thanks to all the great companies who donated cool product (WBR, Fuel TV, Loomstate, Much Music, Quiksilver, Logitech ++).
A big shout out to customs for allowing us to bring recycling store prizing across the border.
