8/2/06 :: John Waters themed recycling bins

If you’ve ever dreamed of designing a recycling bin dedicated to Pink Flamingo, Cry Baby, Female Trouble, Hairspray...here’s your opportunity.TRASHed and Virgin Festival are signing 17 artists to submit 96 gallon redesigned recycling bins honoring each classic John Waters film.

Virgin Festival this year takes place in John Water’s hometown – Baltimore, MD on September 23, 2006. What better way to honor this visionary filmmaker.The entire collection of John Waters themed recycling bins will be interactive. When you’re not checking out the artwork, you can catch performances by the The Who, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gnarls Barkley, The Flaming Lips, The Killers, Thievery Corporation, Scissor Sisters + more.

All artists must use 96 gallon plastic recycling bins (w/wheels) as the starting point for their piece. Participating artists will receive 2 tickets and VIP wristbands to the Virgin Festival. All artwork/artists will be featured on the Virgin Festival/Global Inheritance websites and exhibited on the grounds during the festival.

Interested artists must submit their concept and samples of their work to virgin@globalinheritance.org byAugust 26, 2006 to be considered.

Final artwork will be donated to a TBD institution in the city of Baltimore after the festival.

7/31/06 :: TRASHed @ X Games Athlete Lounge
TRASHed: Art of Recycling will be on display at X Games 12 in the athlete lounge. Between competitions, the world’s best in skate, surf, moto-x and bmx will enjoy live recycling bin painting by Bobby Holland, Mark Farina, Pinky and Steven Lopez. The only way into the lounge is with an athlete credentials, so either befriend your local pro or start practicing!!!

6/27/06 :: Bay St Emeryville Exhibit

If you’re rolling into the Bay area this summer, make sure to swing by Bay St Emeryville, the first green mall on the west coast. If you’re looking to pick up a new Kevin Federline inspired iPod at the Apple Store or the soy beef combo lettuce wrap at PF Chang's, Bay St Emeryville can handle your requests. Bay St is celebrating their green business certificate by hosting the TRASHed Recycling Bins which feature artwork by Ben Collison, Matt Brady, Pinky, Seizerone, Erik Siador, Josh Geyer, Jeremiah Garcia, Karen Lechelt, Zaina Alwan, Nicole Byrne, Ari Evan Gold, Cody Young, Megumi Watanabe, Jeff Lawter, Errol Nolan, Make One, Lucien Shapiro, Estria, Chris Cichoki and Downtimer.

TRASHed Recycling Bins will be on display all summer at Bay St Emeryville. This is your chance to see these great works of art, as they will be donated to local Bay area classrooms for back to school in September.

5/1/06 :: TRASHed Again – Coachella 2006

TRASHed represented at Coachella this year with 35 recycling/trash stations around the main festival grounds and back stage. Each station was equipped with signage directing people to the trash or recycling bins. The recycling bins were designed by talented artists up+down the west coast while the trash were left blank. 12/02/2005 :: TRASHed Jewel Case Exchange – Knitting Factory NYC & LA :: TRASHed is on the path to cure the problem of CD jewel case dumping. Keep CD jewel cases out of landfill by visiting the TRASHed :: Recycling Store on December 8th at Knitting Factory.

Bring your old jewel cases (with our without CDs in them) and cash them in for cool merchandise courtesy of Kid Robot, Kangol, Guitar Center, Logitech, Loomstate, Nike, ESPN X Games Netflix, Midway, EA, 20th Century Fox + more. Individuals who bring in the most jewel cases will get the coolest stuff.

Suggested $1 donation goes to the TRASHed campaign.
