This was going to be the year! Reducing plastic (especiallysingle-use) was being adopted as a key issue amongst the individuals, corporations and governments making progress towards a more environmentally just world. Non-profit organizations, like Global Inheritance, were investing in the development and launching of new programs to educate and inspire people to join the coming fight... and then the Pandemic arrived...The effects have been dramatic and arrived quickly. The battle we were training for wasn't just delayed, we lost the first round by disqualification. Single-use plastic manufacturers and their lobbyists are beyond happy… and understandably so. We all have serious concerns about COVID-19. Utensils, drinking glasses, containers - just about anything that is reused by multiple people seems less safe than before. As a result, people are covering up with plastic gloves, visors, plastic masks, and shields and studying up on ways to avoid the virus. There is more online shopping, more delivery, and that means more plastic. International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) has reported that single-use plastic may have grown by250-300%inAmerica alone since coronavirus has taken hold! It's bad news, but there are actions you can take. First, read information from trusted sources and talk with people who have your best interest in mind. Global Inheritance is bringingitsPlastic Surgerycampaign online to support people who are looking for ways to reduce their consumption during this pandemic. Our organization is also launching aPlastic-Free Universitywhere you can learn from experts and become a PlasticSurgeonwho cuts plastic out of your neighborhood, school or business. There's a lot of information we come in contact with daily, much of it in flux and subject to revision as new data and analysis takes place. We are committed to fighting against this plastic pandemic, which is far from over. Join us in training to win the battle for our lands, our oceans, and our future.Your Friends At Global Inheritance
